Ramanuja lived in the 11th century CE (1017 - 1137 CE). The movie gives a good insight into his personal life and the lifestyle of Vaishnavite Brahmins of Tamil Nadu, popularly known as "Iyengars" (yes, BKS Iyengar of Iyengar Yoga is from that community ).
