Vannakkam: What does Creatio Ex Nihilo mean? Sounds maybe like a Latino baseball player.

    Re: Creatio Ex Nihilo

    Namaste

Hinduism largely rejects this, though even many Islamic, Jewish and Christian views are not necessarily aligned with it (creation out of nothing). Some say Buddhist emptiness may approximate it, but I think many like myself laugh at such comparisons.

The Bhagavad Gita 13 v 20 states the following, which rejects it. Translations on this verse, however, vary. I think Prabhupad has a good translation of this verse. Consider:

    prakṛtiḿ
     puruṣaḿ
     caiva
    viddhy anādī
     ubhāv api

    vikārāḿś ca
     guṇāḿś caiva
    viddhi
     prakṛti
    -sambhavān

    SYNONYMS
    prakṛtim
     — material nature; puruṣam
     — the living entities; ca
     — also; eva
     — certainly; viddhi
     — you must know; anādī
     — without beginning; ubhau
     — both; api
     — also; vikārān
     — transformations; ca
     — also; guṇān
     — the three modes of nature; ca
     — also; eva
     — certainly; viddhi
     — know; prakṛti
     — material nature; sambhavān
     — produced of.

    TRANSLATION
Material nature and the living entities should be understood to be beginningless. Their transformations and the modes of matter are products of material nature.

    Re: Creatio Ex Nihilo

To agree with creatio Ex Nihilo, you have to agree that creation is different and newer from the creator. Then creator can"t be omnipresent and all pervading. But if creator manifest the creation from within, then everything must be there eternally,so there can"t be anything Ex Nihilo.

For an example, whatever is there in our DNA,our mental, physical characteristics will be accordingly.it can"t be deviated from IMPRINTS IN DNA.
    Man-naathah Shri Jagan-nathah Mat-guru-shri jagad-guruhu.
Mad-atma sarva-bhutatma tasmai Shri Gurave Namah.

My Lord is the Lord of Universe; My teacher is the teacher of the
entire universe; and my Self is the Self of all. My salutations at the lotus-feet
of such a Guru, who has revealed such knowledge to me.

Vannakkam: If time is non-linear and cyclic, dissolution-creation-sustaining is a process, happening simultaneously throughout the universe.

The idea of creation being separate and has a 'beginning', I believe is another example of the subtle influence Abrahamism has had on our faith.

    Re: Creatio Ex Nihilo

So would it be fair to say that if god created the universe out of nothing, then 'nothing' has to be a 'thing' (which is illogical and hence not possible) since there existed nothing prior to creation apart from God?
