Namaste,
Happy Dussehra to all.
As is the tradition in North India, Ramlila was enacted at quite a few places in the capital in the days leading up to dashami. On the tenth day following the Ashwin Amavasya, or on dashami, many parks in Delhi set up effigies of Ravan, Megnath and Kumbhakaran. Some even went to the trouble of setting up a mock Lanka around the effigies. In the evening, during the final act of Ramlila, Lord Hanuman burnt down the mock city of Lanka, which is loaded with fireworks. That was followed by Bhagwan Ram shooting arrows to start the fires in the effigies. The best and most thunderous fireworks had been saved for the effigies. Once on fire, it was quite spectacular to watch the fireworks going off from different areas as the effigies burnt.

On the Dussehra eve mother nature played havoc with weather. Around 3 PM, there was heavy rain accompanied with strong gusts. Some areas of the capital even experienced some hail. This damaged many effigies which had already been installed. At some places even the heads came off and fell on the ground because of the wind gusts. But, they were able to put everything back together today and load the effigies with fireworks in time for the shows in different parks.
Pranam.
