What's the difference between advaita & shuddadvaita?

    Namaste All,

I'd like you to help me clarify the real difference between advaita and shuddadvaita.

I know a-dvaita means "not two". But it differentiates Brahman AND Maya. How can it be "not two"?

Shuddadvaita means "pure" advaita meaning all is Brahman and Brahman alone is. I guess shuddadvaita expresses real and true oneness.

Could we clarify this, please? Thank you for your kind help.

    Namaste,
    Elizabeth

Monistic Theist philosophies of Indian thought like Shuddhadvaita,Paradvaita and Advaita Ishvaravada all consider Maya as God's own power of self-concealment.They also reject the unreality of the world. They view Brahman as a volitional being. You can find some files on Shuddhadvaita in my online library.

    Namaste Elizabeth108,

Advaita says that the world when compared to the Ultimate Reality is unreal. The whole world is nama-rupa (name and form), but in fact everything is Brahman, it (maya/world) appears to be real because of our Avidya (ignorance).
While Shuddadvaita, says that the world is real although it appears to be different from Brahman due to our ignorance.
