I agree with Sahas on this one. Burning karma or accelerating it, I have heard a few times on TV in shiv-yog blabbers. In hinduism and also buddhism there is a belief of doing good deeds or good karma although this is much more central and exaggerated in buddhism. Doing good deed accumulates seeds of good karma, doing yajnas and other spiritual activities can unlock the effect of good karmas and bring happiness. This is the view I am aware of and not of gradual burning of bad karma or karma in general. Doing karma yoga, one can stop getting entangled in new karma. In vedantic circles prarabdha karma has to be worked through. In more theistic sects, once grace of divine is received all karmas are burnt in an instant, not gradually and not by practice of spirituality, but solely by divine grace.
