    New Temple Priest!

I know this won't be of much interest to anyone but me, but I was excited to learn via an email from my local Temple that they have found a second priest! They have been searching for almost a year for another priest to help our current priest who is extremely overworked!

I'm happy because maybe now our first priest will be able to get in a nap or two every once and a while. I'm looking forward to meeting the new priest next weekend when I go in to volunteer.

Vannakkam: Good for them. Happy priests make happy temples. The priest has a lot to do with the vibration of a temple. It's sad that some temples mistreat their priests, hire them on one year contracts, then ship them home when that's over, and import another one, and don't even pay a decent wage.

    Re: New Temple Priest!

Agreed. Luckily in this situation, the first priest is well liked - it's just that they have been having trouble finding another priest to take on some of the work load. Though the temple is not yet finished, the Hindu community in our area seems to have grown even in the short time since I've been there. It has been difficult for the original priest to juggle performing pujas at temple in addition to traveling (sometimes several hours) to perform special pujas in people's homes.

I will pray that the new priest brings plenty of positive energy with him =)

    Vannakkam,

I'm glad for you and the first priest! New priests usually bring new vibrations. I hope he'll be friendly and well-liked like the first priest. It's interesting getting to know them and their lives. And yes, like EM said, "happy priests make happy temples". I recall going to a new temple once in my traditional attire and all, and I suddenly realised the chief priest staring at me. He then gave me the biggest, friendliest smile you could ever imagine from a priest. LOL

I'm optimistic While I've always felt a little apprehensive when I've visited a new Temple and I'm wearing traditional clothing, the priests have always smiled warmly at me.
