    meditation to improve mood?

    Namaste',
I feel that it would be beneficial to learn a meditative technique specifically for creating a positive feeling. A positive mood- even transitory- can be used to help spread positivity to others- personally at the rare times I do feel happy- I want to do things to make others happy, and I also notice I perform my enquiry into truth more vigorously.

The current technique I have been using is to use a mantra until the body and mind is fully relaxed. The mind is then only having the mantra slowly focused on. Then I am able to withold the comings and goings of thought for an estimated few seconds by using all attention to focus on being as is. Strenous, it can be peaceful, the only issue is trying to focus on being in a region that does not involve the body. Though I believe the next step is if a sensation is felt discard it.

yes meditation is an excellent activity to removes stress and improve mood. people have been practicing meditation since the beginning of Hinduism and even before that.

try taking some deep breaths or do some pranayam before meditation. it would remove stress. if you some recording of 'om' mantra then play it at low volume and then meditate. i assure you it would help. i have been doing meditation since 10 years of age and i am quite grateful to it.

nut just sitting down at one place and thinking what you would do after you get up and what work remains undone is just time waste. instead concentrate on a particular god or goddess or just on om and then meditate. don't think of anything else. it is bound to make you calmer and happier.

Meditation one of the best way to keep our mind stable which really helps to maintain the mood and keeps us healthy. I have been practicing it from last 3 months which has really proved to be helpful and it keeps away tension from me.

But should we not identify what makes the mind's mood bad/negative ?
Should we not first recognize why at all is mind agitated or stressed ?
unless we solve this, can we hope to get a solution ?

Indeed. The kAliyA has to be driven away - for good. Not put to sleep with candy-medicine.
The problem solving and troubleshooting has to be done first.

So true. Many people nowadays, think it is a 'stress-relief' mechanism like a hot-water-bag or a cold-pack on a sprained ankle. Why did the ankle get sprained in the first place? And after all the rAmAyaN you continue to wear stilletoes.

Meditation is really a necessary medicine that should be consumed every morning to get rid of all kinds of stress. You can feed songs and aartis of God in your PC or you can also make use of an electric hawankund in which you can feed mantras and aartis so that at the time of meditation you can listen those beautiful and soul soothing songs and aartis to feel relax and can fresh-n-up your mood.

    Hello,
Question is that where prayer comes in? I was told that prayer is saying something to GOD and meditation is listening for the answer. So if we cannot ID that which makes the mood negative, can we then ask and hope to find the answer that way?? I ask because sometimes after I meditate I feel negative, not always but it causes concern.
