'Dhara' means 'flow'. 'Paladhara' means 'a flow of milk'. The word 'Pancha' means five and hence, Panchadhara means 'a conjuncture of five streams'. The water here is very sweet and people don't step into the water as they consider them to be very sacred. Paladhara and Panchadhara are natural water falls where Sri Shankaracharya spent his time meditating in 8th century. There are two marble statues of Sarada Devi and that of Shankaracharya. Shankaracharya composed his works Sivanandalahari and Bhramaramba Astaka at this place. The water is perennial and flows always irrespective of seasons.
