A Rudraksha mala with 32 beads?

    Namaste to All,

I have a Rudraksha mala with 32 beads (32+1 beads altogether).
I got it from a friend as a gift. It is from a Saiva centre in Tiruvannamalai, India.

What can be known about it?

I have heard of malas with 26, 54, 108 beads but not that of 32 so far.
Can it be used for Saiva mantra japa?

What do you know about this kind of mala?

Thank you for your helpful answers.

    Namaste

    Namaste Elizabeth 108!

How wonderful to receive a mala that carries the vibration of Tiruvannamalai, all the more since it was obtained from a Saiva Center where the Lord is actively worshiped!

For japa, if one is counting, it is useful to have malas of 108 beads, or 54 beads, or 27 beads, However, some people simply WEAR rudraksha malas, not using them for counting purposes. All kinds of advice can be found on the internet. According to one article at the address given below, a mala of 32+1 rudraksha beads is to be worn on the throat.

    Om namah Shivaya!
    Namaste Trikona Bindu,

Thank you very much for your helpful answer.
I have been to the Ramanasramam (in Tiruvannamalai, TN, South-India) once.
Then I could buy a Rudraksha mala with 108 beads there.
I use it for japa mala.

Then a friend of mine went back to Tiruvannamalai again (unfortunately I couldn't) and this friend brought this mala of 32 beads from there.

This is the short story of these two Rudraksha malas.

    Om Namah Shivaya

    Namastey all,

Well, this ongoing thread is old but I like to share my thoughts over here. Actually in my knowledge for jaap and chanting purpose rudraksha mala with 108 beads is believed the best. However for more clarity on this one you should read : http://www.apsense.com/article/the-1...yer-beads.html
