Now that I understand Necromancer's challenge-question a bit better, it seems that she is targeting those who have taken the time and effort to churn traditional Hinduism out of the pot.

The answer to that could be "they simply do not want to take Wundermonk's bait"
AND/OR they do not feel the need to identify themselves on this thread.

    Namaskaaram:

A timely question, at least for me as I almost don't know and have debating the answer for quite some time.

    1.
If traditional Hindu means being born in a Hindu family, then Yes I am one.

    2.
If by traditional we mean that I know what the term is supposed to mean. Then unfortunately, No.

    3. If traditional means living like a hindu going to temples and being moved by stories/ experiences and respecting the norms of the society I live in, then Yes.

    4. If by traditional, I mean respecting and enjoying the posts and discussion in this site while not being intimidated/scared (I think this point is deeper than it appears), then Yes.

    Namaste,

As I understand, traditional means to follows shastras and consider them as an authority. Accepting Caste system and sticking to the responsibility given to your caste e.g. brahmins to live pious life, etc are considered as Traditional.

Some say, Hinduism tailored for whites is Neo-hinduism or neo-vedanta / neo-advaita. These terms have often created a lot of debate which ended nowhere, hence please do not ask more questions on the Neo thing.

Not following shastras, vedas, agamas and cooking your own theory, though it does not comply with shastras is called as not- traditional. This includes new-age phenomenon and new energy based techniques which are mixture of all religions.

Dharma and spirituality has to be separated. We cannot live as in treta yuga i.e. Raama raajya is not possible. But spirituality / Brahma-vidya is direct dealing with mind and is even applicable and effective today.

As I have said, the term, Orthodox is better than Traditional - just my 2 cents

    Aum
