    Red Coral and Hanuman Japa

    Namaste

There are often associations between Red Coral and Hanumanji. For example, 108 japa mala of red coral for chanting Hanuman mantra rounds.

Red Coral seems to also be associated with Hindu medical treatments.

Anyone have an expert commentary on this, regarding Red Coral, and why?

    Thanks!

I am not an expert on the topic but I do know that red coral has always been associated with Mangal (Mars) perhaps because it shares the planet's red color. Since Tuesday, Mangalvaar, is the traditional day to worship Sri Hanuman, perhaps that is where the symbolism comes from.
Medically it is used to increase vitality, energy and pitta dosha due to the fact that it has an energizing warm color and is not actually a mineral, instead an organic substance as corals are living beings. The coral stone comes from what was once a living being many years ago. So therefore it embodies vitality.

The colour looks like a combination of ब्रध्न (light reddish brown) and अरुषी (color of rising Sun). These are the colors of Horses of Asvins, which Indra supplies to them. In this post already a possibility of अरुषी (Arushi) being color related to Vayu and ब्रध्न (bradhna) being related to Marut is discussed. So the Asvins-connection implies medical properties.
    Things to remember:

    1. Life = yajña
    2. Depth of Āstika knowledge is directly proportional
to the richness of Sanskrit it is written in
    3. Āstika = Bhārata ("east") / Ārya ("west")
    4. Varṇa = tripartite division of Vedic polity
    5. r = c. x²
    where,
    r = realisation
    constant c = intelligence
    variable x = bhakti

    Namaste and Thank You Both

This is very welcome and revealing information! If you don't mind, I would like to share it (without stealing credit for it to myself) with some other Hindus. Didn't see it immediately as I've been busy with other Hindu and work matters. May Hanumanji bring courage to all Devouts of Dharma! I plan on purchasing a red coral ring to wear, which will remind me of Hanuman. I also am personally attracted to red coral for these reasons and it captivates me. I am not manglik, but like this coral, thank you again.
