    Hello from Australia

    Hi there.

Im Mac, I stumbled onto this website while looking for forums on Krishna and decided to stay. I am new to "hindu" religion in the sence that I have come though the Krishna Consious path. I am very new to it all and I understand that some people will not agree with the path but I am not here to argue. I just wish to learn and chat with like minded people. I have always considered myself christian but after some reading some books by Srila Prahbupada I become hooked on something that seemed to make so much more sence and I could really relate to. I have decided to plunge right in and am currently reading Srila Prabhupada's translation of Bhagavad Gita. I have also read alot of his other books. I will be full of questions and am happy to listen to anyones opinions along the way.

I look forward to chatting with you all.

    Namaste Mac,

    Welcome to the forum.

Good to know that you have been reading books and learning on your own. There is a wealth of information available in the past posts in this forum, which you might do a search on and read with your future questions.

Hello - MacPark - love to hear that you read the Gita - I am maybe a little more into Buddhism than Hinduism, but the Bhagavad Gita is my favourite of all scriptures.

    All the best

    Namaste MacPark

An Aussie? Fantastic. I have some relatives in Australia, they like to go to Bali which is a Hindu island, have you ever been there? You can experience some nice Hindu adventures there.

You may hear some critical of Prabhupad on the forum, but as an American I am a great admirer of ACBVSP and His books. Why? Because He came here, to my America. He came with nothing, yet he came here, and then he went to us. He brought something, and it now lives in the ethos of America. Today He is even starting to be mentioned in some school text books on Americana. He is like George Washington. He, and "Hare Krishna", are as much American as was he born of India. One day, he will be considered a founding father of American culture. I have relatives in the UK as well. He is admired there too, but in America the Hare Krishnas are seen as part of Americana itself. All this in the span of only 50 years.

I am a Saiva. But I still respect Prabhupad and what he did. My Mother In Law knows a lot about Prabhupad. She told me to respect Him. I am glad you enjoy his commentaries and books. Bhakti yoga and Karma yoga, they are the "Best for the West". Welcome to the HDF.

    Om Namah Sivaya
