Hello, I’m from England though presently working at a Chinese university; I’ve had an interest in Indian philosophy for about 25 years and been a practicing Hindu for five years. I’m a keen writer on links between Hindu thought and a range of Western subjects and I entered India for a tenth time this year for a pilgrimage to the Kumbh Mela, along with Vrindavan, Mathura, Ayodhya and Chitrakut. I’ll be pleased to post from time to time and ask the odd question; namaste.

Anima Deorum, many regrets for not seeing your post! I'm not too familiar with the forum yet and how to subscribe to threads for notifications; I'll try to post more often though.

Namste Girisha,

Ah, these are wonderful ideas that you have. There is a book I have been meaning to read, but my thoughts are so fickle and destructive that I usually let them deflate instead of supplying my habit (of thought) with more material.

The book relates advaita to postmodern thought:

Indian Philosophers and Postmodern Thinkers: Dialogues on the Margins of Culture, by Carl Olson. Oxford University Press, 2002.

I have browsed the contents of this book at the library. Olson talks of thinkers like Derrida and Lacan. Personally, I have never read them. They just provide one more gnarled and twisted path to misunderstanding.

My subjects are the ideas carried on the winds, preserved in the fire, and born of the earth. They have affected me very deeply. They have many faces. My training is in philosophy. My study was mostly on Greek, Roman, German, and contemporary American thinkers. I admire Wagner's Ring cycle.

Now I only write poetry for my dearest ishtas. I am often reluctant to share it because it is often misunderstood and I want to publish more of it.

Anyway, the beauty of the heart is so much more brilliant!
