Thread: Shiva Bhajans

    Shiva Bhajans

    Namaste,

I would like to share a few songs that really help me to connect with Lord Shiva, and hope others will do the same!

Here is my current favorite. I think it is the most beautiful song I have ever heard. It is called 'Hara Hara Hara Hara MahaDeva' by Third Man.

Here is another one that I really like. I don't know who does it. I watch this video every morning (and the other one) before getting ready for work. There are some beautiful images.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w46gmDfUaQ0

And here is a song that I fell in love with even before I knew Mahadev. I never knew who he was talking about, I just like the way the song made me feel. The first time I saw a picture of Shiva it had a caption that said simply 'Hara Hara Mahadeva' and I understood. It's called 'My Baba' by Trevor Hall.

I look forward to hearing what some other member's favorites are.

    Hara Hara Mahadev!!

    Namaste.

Those are some really beautiful Bhajans! <3

My favourites (my current favourite) is:

    Rudra Rudra Maha Rudra:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtwDqMl273U

I'm always singing "Namo Namah Shiva Shankar' instead of chanting Aum Namah Shivaya quite often now.

I also like Yam Yam Yam Yaksha Rupam:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pzszqs6gz3o

All of the Bija Mantras in that make it very powerful!

I also listen to all of the 'Ashtakams' by S.P. Balasubramanium and this one:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASa08VbK5V4

    ...and this one:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8r9Y1hzMFs

I like Purushotam Das Jalota, Anup Jalota, Udit Narayan, S.P. Balasubramanium and all that 'ancient' stuff. lol

Apart from those, I listen to a lot of kirtans and just mantra chanting.

The best Shiva Kirtan/Bhajan/Puja ever is this one:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcEqAnOxNT0

Oh dear Shiva, I wish I were there right now...

    Aum Namah Shivaya

    Namaste.

    Awwww.....this thread isn't going anywhere.

Why does it seem like I am the only Shiva Bhakt who posts in this forum?

Anyway, here is a very beautiful 'feel good' Shiva Bhajan that always has me totally entranced about half way through it.

    Enjoy!

Thank you so much for your contributions Necromancer!

I have listened to and enjoyed all of the videos you have posted. I like how happy everyone is in that last video. Just that in itself is enough to make me smile!

In another thread I posted about the 'coincidence' of hearing 'om namah shivaya' playing over the speakers at Barnes & Noble when I was there looking for a book about Shiva. I asked the guy working in the Music department what was playing and it was this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzmTDe5IQ44

    Om Namah Shivaya

    Re: Shiva Bhajans

    Thank you for that Karthik.

I just wanted to share a song I have been enjoying very much lately. It's not very traditional, and focuses more on Shakti than Shiva, but hey, they're a team right?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DohE3G1nkgM

    And here are the lyrics:

OM SHAKTI OM My Mama rides a lion
My Dad wears ashes and snakes
    My Mama is a warrior
She kills demons in Her play
    My Daddy has the power
And He likes Her this way
I call them day and night
    I never leave their sight
Singing Om Shakti Om Shakti Om

My Mama lets Her hair hang loose
My Dad likes to sit still
Watching Mama scream and dance gives Him such a thrill
My Mama drinks from a skull cup
    You got any demons
    She’ll sip them up
They live up on the mountain
    They’re the Eternal Fountain
    Om Shakti Om Shakti Om
Singin Om Shakti Om Shakti Om
    Om Namah Shivaya

    Namaste EM

    These are really nice!

i tend to like Tamil as well as Carnatic, but also many others, with that "raw" (?) sound, it can become "electric" almost. Some of these you shared are very "connecting" and very nice!
