Namaste All,
I have just read this and find it to be wonderfully astute:
"... The whole system of education is geared to sense gratification, and if a learned man thinks it over, he sees that the children of this age are being intentionally sent to the slaughterhouses of so-called education." ...
srila prabhupada's commentary upon the Srimad Bhagavatam.
Text 1.22
Fresh air for me, as one who lives in a community where the standard philosophy is; one must be more fiendish than ones neighbours, so as to gain the upper hand from them. Seriously, I hear this mantra almost every day.
So, this makes me smile, as it reminds me of a thought I often have in the local supermarket, I affectionately call it the abattoir; Where customers are considered thieves, simply upon entering, from whence they are herded through a system of control, with aggressive sounding buzzers and flashing warning lights. Muscled security guards frowning upon all who pass before them; As if to give fair warning of their might.
The stress upon the checkout girls to diminish the cue rapidly, is palpable; it can be seen to spread amongst all those who wait in line, those addressed by them.
Oh dear, in humanity's relative experience, its bedraggled race; it appears to me that the Rakshasa have found ways to differ their cannibalism.
Wait, what is that; Do I hear Valmiki starting to stir?
Tong in cheek, or is it?
Kind regards.
