    Namaste

    Hello everyone,
I'm originally a Muslim but not very religious, and I live in the US. I've been drawn towards hinduism for awhile now and recently read the Gita. I also do a lot of reading online.
Hinduism just seems like a more tolerant and peaceful religion. There are so many things in the Quran and Hadith that seem unbelievable and false to me. Karma and reincarnation make a lot more sense to me than people going to hell for eternity for mistakes made in this life. I feel like all the Abrahamic religions try to scare people into believing.
I can't wait to start chatting in the forum and learning more.

Vannakkam, and welcome to HDF. I hope your stay here is fruitful.

Where in the US are you. Maybe we can direct you to a temple.

Firstly, thanks for the kind words and the warm welcome. I'm in Iowa City, they don't have a temple here that I am aware of which is surprising because we have so many international students.

    Namaste Hamzai,

Welcome to HDF, may you find it helpful.

The closest mandir/temple to you appears to be this one; perhaps
not walking distance, but not too far.

Please do not take this as pressure to go, it is entirely up to you-
but it is there if you wish to, and I am sure they would welcome your
    sincere interest in learning more.

Best wishes on your continuing journey!

Vannakkam: Besides the one JMD pointed to, there is one over in Des Moines. I've been to the one in Omaha, substantially further yet.

But I agree with JDM, the temple isn't everything, yet still, it holds visual and other aspects to Hinduism you just can't get from a book or an interent forum.
