Thread: The Crazed Lover's Heart

    The Crazed Lover's Heart

    Mitro/Friends,

    I would like to share what is on my mind:

    "Truth - speaks this crazed lover's heart;
    Bind not [your] heart to any other."

    "Lies - are all the friendly lover's promises;
    False - are these oaths of love."

    "Desired - Every waking moment;
    Worshipped; that friendly lover, dear friends;
    Broke, withered, alone, alone was I left."

    "'Twas [that] season, season's loveliness was great;
    That friendly lover, she, I saw; in her love went I, crazed."

    "Came - settled - into my heart;
    Will desire that friendly lover for eternity."
    Far, she is, from starving eyes; what need is of the heart?"

    "Desired - Every waking moment;
    Worshipped; that friendly lover, dear friends;
    Broke, withered, alone, alone was I left."

    My translation of Such Keh Raha Hai.

    Namaste Sudas,

    I'm curious as to what the original poet was referring to, and why you might be quoting this poet yourself. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, but when it comes to love, well, there are two sayings that come to mind.

    The first is "it's better to have loved and lost, than have never loved at all." I bring that up because in a sense it is true - it's important to experience these feelings to know what they are and to learn from them. After all, without suffering, one wouldn't know what joy is like.

    And the second thing is sort of hard to explain. I have learned that it's possible to love without, as the poet suggests, "binding" one's heart. Love doesn't need to be bound to be real.

    That's about all I can think of in relation to this right now...if you want clarification, feel free to ask.

    Namaste, Webimpulse:

    I just really like the song ("Such Keh Raha Hai"). It was stuck in my head and I wanted to share it (Canteen). You can access the song by clicking the link in the OP. I was going to share it in Hindi, but I thought sharing it in English would have been better. Thus, I translated the lyrics using my own flavor, instead of using non-poetic translations found online. If you would like to watch the movie, in which the song is found, you can access it here (it's free on Youtube & has subtitles; it's a romantic comedy): RHTDM.
