Is the concept of God as in Saguna/Nirguna eventually viewed as Neutral for a spiritual aspirant or is the 1st type the correct reaction and the 2nd type a failure or both are right?
Before we start delivering judgement on what is wrong and what is right or whatever, we must decide what is the PramANa on which sanctity of both the attitudes can be evaluated.
Why the need of PramANas ?
a) A blind person cannot lead another blind person. So, anyone who has not "known" the Truth cannot be relied upon whatever he/she says.
2) Truth is not dependent upon logic to survive in its glory. So, just by using our logic, we cannot hope to attain the Truth. Why can logic fail us which works so well in the matters of this world ? Because, our logical thinking is based on some assumed axioms which may be true in our relative existence of this world but may fail badly to explain the Reality as it is.
The above may not be palatable to some people who depend highly upon their logical brains and feel that anything including the Ultimate must be conceived within mental frameworks. However, even science has proved that what appears to true to our sense organs and what appears to be logical to our brain, fails to explain the world at atomic levels.

Therefore, before moving ahead in forming any opinion on an issue where we are trying to conceive the Reality as it is, we need PramANas as our mind and logic won't work for us to know the Truth. The best PramANa, in my opinion, is what a person who has relaised the Truth says. We can simply leave other PramANas (even though our scriptures too come from Self-realised saints and have been accepted as most powerful PramANa). You cannot prove to a person that the earth is flat who has seen the Earth himself from space. Pratyaksha PramANa is the best PramANa in my opinion.
So, in my opinion, the second attitude is adopted by confused souls who have gone on hectic journey for mindless spiritual shopping to various Buddhists' scriptures/saying of saints, Neo-Advaitic books, New-age beliefs, Classical Advaita, Taoism, etc. and has got totally confused and finally has started his/her own make-belief world of "Spirituality" for himself/herself strongly believing that what he/she thinks or does is correct (because he/she has studied and analysed so much).
