    Offering food

Hello, I'd like to know any mantra to offer my food to Lord Shiva.

    Thanks.

    Re: Offering food

Interesting, I am coming to know of mantras for offering food to god.

I've been watching my family offer food to god since I was a little child, and I myself offer food to deities for a long time now. All that I say is, "O god, (god's name), please accept this offering" and then say, 'naivedyam samarpayami' and sometimes 'Shodasopachaaram Samarpayami'. That's all.

    Thank you

    Dear MS,

What I meant (and the OP was about) is this - what do we recite or say when we are offering food to god - as in presenting it to gods with a mantra.

My answer: I will say 'naivedyam samarpayami, shodachopachaaram samarpayami' and offer the food to each god that is in my shrine. That is, I will repeat this every time to each different god and ask him/her to take my food.

Think about food... is one offering food-stuffs or really the tattva-s ? And what of sattvic food vs. other food. And what of smell , taste, touch and sight ? What is offered there ?
And what of the wholeness of the food being offered ? and the proper mind set.

Think through what the essence of the offering really is.

Thank you for this ... it would be helpful to the HDF reader to know what each word means; or the overall meanings. Can you please provide this ( for this post and any future posts).
