Why Sikh Chant Raam Nam

Dear all,

why in Sikh they chant Ram Nam ? Is this mean Lord Rama or only they way they call Lord name and not about Lord Ram from Ayodhya.

The original sikhs called themselves Sanatani Sikhs as Sikhism grew out of Sanatan Dharma. They accepted all Hindu deities and had their pictures and murthis at their places of worship. Later on, they wanted a separate identity for themselves, so they started denying that the names of Hindu deities in their scriptures are Hindu deities, and consider them to be different ways of addressing God. So, it is all politically motivated.

They don't chant any other names but Krishna, Gopal, Hari, Brahma, Vrindavan etc. are mentioned in every other verse. They have come up with creative translations of the scriptural verses and insist that all the deity names mean God and have no relation to the Hindu deities. The fact of the matter is that most of the verses in their holy book were authored by Sanatani Hindus. So, it is a deliberate attempt to give themselves a separate identity that they deny it all. Don't get into an argument about this with a sikh though.

Well, I am born in a Amritdhari (initiated) Sikh family.
Here is why we say Raam Naam.

The main word for God in our religion is Vaheguru.

Vaheguru is made up by 4 true/main avatars representing for every Yug.

Here is a quote which can explain better than me:

In Satyug, Vishnu in the form of Vasudev is said to have incarnated and ‘V’ Of Vahiguru reminds of Vishnu.
The true Guru of Dvapar is said to be Harikrsna and ‘H’ of Vahiguru reminds of Hari.
In the the Treta was Ram and ‘R’ of Vahiguru tells that rembering Ram will produce joy and happiness.
In Kalijug, Gobind is in the form of Nanak and ‘G’ of Vahiguru gets Govind recited.
The recitations o f all the four ages subsume in Panchayan i.e. in the soul of the common man.
When joining four letters Vahiguru is remembered, The jiv merges again in its origin.
