Thread: Question about Shree Hanuman Chalisa

  1. Question about Shree Hanuman Chalisa

    Specifically my question pertains to the version found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liKbzGXGokU I am curious as to what the words of the refrain or chorus are, lead by the woman singer, those that begin jai hanuman jai jai hanuman... and also a general english meaning of that section. Thank you for your help!

    Re: Question about Shree Hanuman Chalisa

    I only listened to the first minutes of the youtube link. I believe you are referring to the words "Siya Ram Dulaare Jai Hanuman" which are sung in chorus.

    Meanings
    Siya Ram =>> Sita Ram
    Dulaare =>> beloved
    Jai Hanuman => Victory to you, oh Hanuman

    In a sentence this means "Victory to you, oh Hanuman - the beloved of Sita and Ram". Note that it is not an actual part of the Hanuman Chalisa so if you are reciting the chalisa while praying at home you do not need to sing those words. That said, it is good that you asked because it is believed that one must know the meaning of Hanuman chalisa or any other chalisa that they are reciting to extract full benefits from the same.
