Re: Hindu or none ... the new choice.
Namaste,
In my observation, immigrant parents are stumbled with the daunting role of parenting. They do not know whether to impose one's religion and tutor the kids to absorb their birth religion or not to educate them, given the surrounding is different. They are confused about how religious tutoring will impact children, and how children who are thus tutored will react when exposed to majority people following other religion or when they are treated negatively (rarely but possible) on the basis of their religion. On top of all this, they do not have much time to educate children in religion, and other media like TV shows do not tutor the 2nd and 3rd generation kids about their religion. I myself is confused by all this, when rearing our 2nd generation children in Hinduism in the USA. It is a very daunting situation. My son does not know the abc of Hinduism, however daughter is going to Indian school on Sundays, and picking up Hinduism for the past 5 yrs.
Cheers!
