This book is an interesting read on the situation with mandirs destroyed and masjids built over them. It goes into the politics surrounding Babri Masjid. It's really dirty, as it shows the people involved in this, including the murders of the Kar Sevakis. It's a bad situation all the way around.

On the one hand, Muslims would be willing to "grant" an exception and "gift" this masjid to the Hindus and want to have a law passed that Hindus will leave alone other masjids, EVEN THOUGH MUSLIMS STOLE THE HINDU TEMPLES/GROUNDS FROM THEM. They want to hold onto what they have while continuing to commit violence and further destruction of mandirs. He explains clearly what the contention on this issue is.

Reading further along, I'm beginning to see the idea behind Marxism and its limitations, especially in the context of Indic civilization. Marx came from a Protestant family (and his father was once Jewish). His idea of secularism meant freedom FROM religion, that the State's role was to stamp out religion and consciousness from the collective mindset. However, in the European context, secularism meant something else; that the State does NOT force the people to believe a particular religion or be banned from doing so, but instead leaves the choice to the individual (to be religious, what, or not to be religious). Elst points out that this is not new to Hindus, as after all, consciousness, the innermost important part of SD, is an individual thing, not a group thing. This is more important than rituals or festivities (not to take away from these, as this provides support and cohesiveness in the community, plus it's a form of enjoyment per kāma goal).

This is what trips up the Communists and secularists in India. "The Marxists start from Marx's perception that religion is an anti-rational superstition from the primitive age, and an opium of the people which prevents men from living in reality and emancipating themselves." But see, as I mentioned, SD doesn't fit these categories that Marx wanted to free us from. This is based on a misunderstanding of the difference between Abrahamic religions and Indic religions.

It's a very good read so far.

Dang, capitalism existed in the prehistoric times too? Here I was, thinking that we Americans invented this concept and hold a patent for it.

The concept of 'various classes within a society' has never been and will never be dismantled. Only the criteria for stratification changes. Every commie boss in Kolkata is a millionaire. Putin wears designer suits while the average Russian is in dire straits. Obama lives well in the White House and the homeless people on skid row sleep in the open. Modi trots the globe and the poor Indian villagers can travel only as far as they can walk. There are the rulers and the ruled, the beautiful and the not so beautiful people, the white collar and blue collar workers and those who must tend to the heaps of garbage. Existence of a non-vertically segregated society among humans is a fantasy of the intellectually bankrupt scribes.

The answer to this question lies in the inability of the espousers of Indo-secularism to reform the theoretically criminal system they faithfully deem appropriate and adequate for governing the social, economic, and political of the Indian polity.

The total obfuscation of the central theme as far as the affected masses are concerned is brilliantly accomplished and being kept on the dark side of the Sun so as to disable the cranial wiring and shut down even remote chances of comprehension of the concept of Indo-secularism, thereby completing the circle of thought process and bringing everyone's attention to the center point of this complex phenomenon?
