    Sri Shankaracharya in English

I want to read the works of Sri Shankaracharya. Are there any good English translations? If so, which books should I read first? Thank you.

Sri Ramakrishna Math has a fairly well stocked bookstore if you are in and around Chennai. Many of the works of Shankara are available (Upanishads, Brahmasutras and Gita commentary). Prices are significantly low. They may be able to ship books to other places in India/around the world. Check out the online catalog in the link.

    Namaskar nac,

I have provided some links for you here that should help you out. The first link I share with you is Shankar's commentary on some of the Upanishads, the next two links are commentaries on the Brahma Sutras, and finally we have Shankar's commentary on Bhagavad-gita. It doesn't matter what order you read them in, as you will gain something from all of them, but if you are a beginner in Sanatan Dharm you should probably start with Bhagavad-gita or the Upanishads.

Principal Upanishads with Shankara Bhashya, - English Translation - 5 Volumes: http://hinduebooks.blogspot.com/2010...-shankara.html

Brahma Sutras according to Shankara: http://www.estudantedavedanta.net/Br...English%5D.pdf , http://www.omjai.org/Brahma%20Sutras...0Sankaracharya

The Bhagavad Gita with the commentary of Sri Shankaracharya: https://archive.org/details/bhagavadgitawith00maharich

I'm very happy to hear that you are wanting to read the works of Adi Shankaracharya. I hope these links will be of great service to you.

Thanks, that was very helpful. I'm currently doing my Masters in the US, so I can't buy books from India, but I am willing to order books from, eg. Amazon.com.

I am also interested in the philosophy of Samkhya. Could you please recommend some books on the subject? I'm not a complete beginner to the Sanatana Dharma. I have read many translations of the Bhagavad Gita and the Upanishads. I also have read the Samkhyakarika: https://archive.org/details/thesaankhyakaari00alasuoft But I didn't fully understand it and I want to improve my understanding of the subject.

I regard Kapila (for Samkhya) and Laplace (for Bayesianism) as my two gurus. I originally read a very good book on Bayesian reasoning called Probabilistic Reasoning in Intelligent Systems, but I didn't fully understand the subject until I read Yudkowsky's Sequences: http://wiki.lesswrong.com/wiki/Sequences If I read a lot of good books on Samkhya, then I'm hoping my understanding of it will improve as well.
