    Considering the Source

Vannakkam: I think on forums, and in life, there are days when we don't consider the source, and it brings us confusion. I recall about a year back when it really hit me:

From another forum, I mentioned a basic teaching of my Guru, and an internet stranger took it upon himself to ask me to go against the instructions of my Guru. (This was a bout sharing of personal mystical experiences.) When I said I'd follow my Guru's advice on it, he got all angry and told me off.

So ... shall we listen to our doctor, or the neighbour boy down the street?
Shall we listen to our wife about what's for dinner, or make a random call to another continent and ask, "Hey, what are we having fro dinner?"

If we want to know about temple worship, should we ask the fundamentalist Christian next door?

Here, on-line, it's harder, because it's only words on a screen, it's not attached to any expertise, or label, of body language. Still, I think it's a good idea to keep in mind whose writing before reacting. It can be 'in one ear and out the other' or 'food for thought'.

Same is true for audience ... but in the other direction.

    Just some random morning thoughts.

    Re: Considering the Source

    namaste,
Many moons ago I had a discussion with a Christian on Christian Forums on the same topic. Here on the Internet everyone is an expert because we are all anonymous so anything goes. I have learnt to let things pass from one ear through to other as you suggest.

For dinner it is always good to ask one's wife unless one loves the couch very much.
