    Namaste Suryavedanta,

Sri Chinmoy was very popular among athletes for his promotion of sports and athletics as ways to expand the consciousness by conquering the mind's perceived limitations. World-class athletes such as Carl Lewis , Ashrita Furman have cites Chinmoy's influence in their athletic careers. Chinmoy taught that running and physical fitness were an aid to both the spiritual as well as outer material life and encouraged his followers to run daily .

The legendary boxer Muhammad Ali met Sri Chinmoy a couple of times and was deeply impressed by him.

He stated thus, " My goal is to be like you one day - to be peaceful and out of this sport, working for humanity and for God."

    Pranam
