Wow! You must be very young! In which case perhaps you must listen to your family and elders. In my personal experience, if God wishes for someone to learn astrology, then that happens without trying too hard or fighting with relatives etc. In that way, it is different from other subjects and domains where struggles have to be made!

yudhiṣṭhira-ji¹ asks, the path of duty is long. It has also O’bharata, many branches. What, however, according to you (bhīṣma) , are those duties that most deserve
to be practiced? What acts, according to thee, are the most important among all duties, by the practice of which I may earn the highest merit both here and hereafter?

bhīṣma-ji¹ said: The worship of mother, father and preceptor (teacher) is most important according to me. The man who attends to that duty here, succeeds in acquiring great fame and many regions of felicity. Worshipped with respect by thee, whatever they will command thee, be it consistent with righteousness or inconsistent with it, should be done unhesitatingly, O Yudhishthira! One should never do what they forbid. Without doubt, that which they command should always be done. [Note: Literally, "One should not follow that course of duty which they do not indicate. That again is duty, which they command. This is settled. They are the three worlds. They are the three modes of life. They are the three veda-s.

• yudhiṣṭhira = yudhi+ṣṭhira = (ṣṭhira) standing upright or firmly , not falling + (yudhi) in battle , was the eldest of the 5 sons of pāṇḍu or the pāṇḍava - yudhiṣṭhira, bhīma , arjuna , nakula and saha-deva
• bhīṣma means terrible , dreadful. If we look at this word as a composite bhī +īṣma we find it more insightful. bhī is defined as to fear, to put in a fright. But who is bhīṣma putting in a fright to? To īṣma. Who is this īṣma ? It is another name for kāmadeva . Bhīṣma gives fear to kāmadeva by taking the vow of lifelong celibacy; and who is this kāmadeva ? none other then the god of love, some say passion and desire.

As long as this ahaṃkāra is nourished it will expand.

What is this ahaṃkāra? We can consider it the small 'self'. Once we get a handle on this, we can see how this 'small self' is active all day. This HDF post frames the subject at hand:

Note that when I say 'small self' , consider it just one ray that comes from SELF ( Being) ... There is just one SELF, yet in daily life , for the avg. householder the total brilliance of
SELF is not a 24 hr. a day experience. Yet this 'small self' is around in wake + dream. It subsides in deep sleep.
