These are the 275+ Punya Shiva Kshetrams which were toured by the holy Nayanar Saint devotees some 15 centuries ago.The Nayanars traveled by foot to various Saiva shrines,composed profound devotional songs(Pathikam) or Stotras(chants) and spread the fragrance of Shiva Bhakti throughout the land.Most of the temples are located in Tamil Nadu and some in Kerala,Andhra & Karnataka.Some famous shrines of North India worshiped by the Nayanars are Sri Kailasa Parvata,Sri Gauri Kund and Kedarnath,Indraneela Parvata,Sri Pashupathinath(Nepal).

Thanks for sharing those lovely pictures. Have you ever asked yourself why these great temples are situated in southern India. We all know every Indian state is spiritually evolved. Also we can't conclude Spirituality declined in northern India in the last 20 centuries.

I won't give the probable answer but hope to hear from you. Please don't consider it as a hijack. If you have no answer probably its time to find one.

I am not sure what you mean by saying that great temples are situated in the South.Holy centers are found in all places and corners of India(ex.Varanasi,Somnath,Amarnath etc.) and even outside(like in Sri Lanka,in undivided India before 1947 etc.).
Maybe some great shrines of the North were plundered during foreign invasions.The South was not immune either and in case of destructive activities,the contribution of many devotees and kings enabled religious life to rebound and maintain the grandeur of Hinduism.Unfortunately,in the North traditions and scriptures may have been lost and therefore some decline.
