Shaiva Gyana - Shaiva Wisdom
Namaste,
I’m sharing some things I learnt in my study.
Firstly,I'll begin with an obeisance to the devotees of Lord Shiva.
शैव ज्ञान जिज्ञासि नमस्ते नमोस्तुते
śaiva jñāna jijñāsi namaste namostute
Salutation to the Shaivas,O devotees of Lord Shiva.
Saluations to you,the earnest seekers of Shiva jnana.
(Saint Sri Sundara Nayanar expresses his devotion to the devotees of Lord Shiva in a heartful manner in Thiruthondarthokai,
”thillaivAz an^dhaNartham adiyArkkum adiyEn…..” -
"I offer myself as the servant of the devotees of the Lord of Thillai forest,to them all and to Shiva,I am a serviteur."
And only then he says,
"Salutations to the Divine Raised Foot of the Lord who dances blissfully in the golden hall of Thillai.")
Why must we offer our respect to Shiva Bhaktas?
For he/she is the repository of Shiva Gnana & Shiva Bhakti.Lord Shiva is found in the heart of sincere devotees and not elsewhere.Where the devoted reside, certainly Shiva resides there.
What is Shiva Jnana?
The Shastras say:
शिवप्रकाशकं ज्ञानं शिवज्ञानं परं स्मृतं
shivaprakAshakaM j~nAnaM shivaj~nAnaM paraM smR^itaM
That supreme knowledge which reveals the exact nature of the Supreme Soul Shiva, the individual souls, the fetters that bind them in Samsara and ultimately the means of liberation,is Shiva Gyana. This liberating Shaiva wisdom is Para i.e. transcendental and higher than the others.
Who is Shiva?
shivo guru: shivo deva: shivo bandhu: sharIriNAm |
shiva AtmA shivo jIva: shivAdanyanna ki~nchana ||
The noble Sage declared thus,
"Shiva is the preceptor,Shiva is the Lord,Shiva is kinsman of all beings,
Shiva is Paramatman(the Supreme Soul),Shiva is Jivatma(individual soul).
There is nothing else other than Shiva i.e. all that exists is Shiva".
