    Re: The Donald

    Namaste,

To wrap up this thread, one major reason that the republican politicians have given for standing behind Trump is the appointments to the Supreme Court. Constitution is one but its interpretation depends on the individual Supreme Court justices. The President appoints these justices and they serve on the bench till they die. The presidents usually pick the justices whose thinking and prior judicial rulings are in line with their agenda. So, a Republican President will nominate judges who are conservative and exclusive whereas a Democratic President would nominate one who is inclusive and a bit liberal. Since 2-3 judges on the Supreme Court are quite old and might die or voluntarily retire in the next few years, the next president stands to appoint those judges, which will define the character of the Supreme Court for many years to come. The Republican politicians would like the next President to be a Republican so that the law of the land is interpreted per their thinking. This reason has been given by many republican politicians to support the republican presidential candidate, even though they don't like him much. For others it is just a cover to stay within the republican fold for their political future.

One of the biggest negatives for Hillary is her close confidante Huma Abedin, a girl raised in Saudi Arabia and who comes from a staunch muslim family,

    Namaste,

It was reported that the Canadian Immigration website crashed a short time ago; perhaps because a large number of Americans were looking into the possibility of moving there, should 'The Donald' become the next president of the United States. EM/Satay, how many American refugees can you take into your houses?

Vannakkam B: In fact I do have a room for rent in my basement. Its hard to find a vegetarian for a vegetarian house. One room out of two is rented currently. When the kids all got moved out, instead of downsizing, we decided to rent the basement out. Nice place too, but I'm not an all out advertiser.

It is a 'wait and see' attitude regarding your country's recent decision. I just hope the religious workers laws are okay for the silpis return to Hawaii.

    Re: The Donald

    Namaste,

Here is what I received from Her majesty,

In Lieu of the disaster that has happened in your country, we Ex-pats have come up with a plan to help out our Colonial Cousins

To the citizens of the United States of America from Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

In light of your failure to have a competent President of the USA to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective immediately.

Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths, and territories (except North Dakota, which she does not fancy).
Your new Prime Minister, Elizabeth May, will appoint a Governor for America without the need for further elections.
Congress and the Senate will be disbanded. A questionnaire may be circulated next year to determine whether any of you noticed.

To aid in the transition to a British Crown dependency, the following rules are introduced with immediate effect:

    -----------------------
    1. The letter 'U' will be reinstated in words such as 'colour,' 'favour,' 'labour' and 'neighbour.' Likewise, you will learn to spell 'doughnut' without skipping half the letters, and the suffix '-ize' will be replaced by the suffix '-ise.' Generally, you will be expected to raise your vocabulary to acceptable levels. (look up 'vocabulary').

    ------------------------
    2. Using the same twenty-seven words interspersed with filler noises such as ''like' and 'you know' is an unacceptable and inefficient form of communication. There is no such thing as U.S. English. We will let Microsoft know on your behalf. The Microsoft spell-checker will be adjusted to take into account the reinstated letter 'u'' and the elimination of '-ize.'

    -------------------
    3. July 4th will no longer be celebrated as a holiday.

    -----------------
    4. You will learn to resolve personal issues without using guns, lawyers, or therapists. The fact that you need so many lawyers and therapists shows that you're not quite ready to be independent. Guns should only be used for shooting grouse. If you can't sort things out without suing someone or speaking to a therapist, then you're not ready to shoot grouse.

    ----------------------
    5. Therefore, you will no longer be allowed to own or carry anything more dangerous than a vegetable peeler.. Although a permit will be required if you wish to carry a vegetable peeler in public.

    ----------------------
    6. All intersections will be replaced with roundabouts, and you will start driving on the left side with immediate effect. At the same time, you will go metric with immediate effect and without the benefit of conversion tables. Both roundabouts and metrication will help you understand the British sense of humour.

    --------------------
    7. The former USA will adopt UK prices on petrol (which you have been calling gasoline) of roughly $10/US gallon. Get used to it.

    -------------------
    8. You will learn to make real chips. Those things you call French fries are not real chips, and those things you insist on calling potato chips are properly called crisps. Real chips are thick cut, fried in animal fat, and dressed not with catsup but with vinegar.

    -------------------
    9. The cold, tasteless stuff you insist on calling beer is not actually beer at all. Henceforth, only proper British Bitter will be referred to as beer, and European brews of known and accepted provenance will be referred to as Lager. South African beer is also acceptable, as they are pound for pound the greatest sporting nation on earth and it can only be due to the beer. They are also part of the British Commonwealth - see what it did for them. American brands will be referred to as Near-Frozen Gnat's Urine, so that all can be sold without risk of further confusion.

    ---------------------
    10. Hollywood will be required occasionally to cast English actors as good guys. Hollywood will also be required to cast English actors to play English characters. Watching Andie Macdowell attempt English dialect in Four Weddings and a Funeral was an experience akin to having one's ears removed with a cheese grater.

    ---------------------
    11. You will cease playing American football. There is only one kind of proper football; you call it soccer. Those of you brave enough will, in time, be allowed to play rugby (which has some similarities to American football, but does not involve stopping for a rest every twenty seconds or wearing full kevlar body armour like a bunch of nancies).

    ---------------------
12.. Further, you will stop playing baseball. It is not reasonable to host an event called the World Series for a game which is not played outside of America. Since only 2.1% of you are aware there is a world beyond your borders, your error is understandable. You will learn cricket, and we will let you face the South Africans first to take the sting out of their deliveries.

    --------------------
    13. You must tell us who killed JFK. It's been driving us mad..

    -----------------
    14. An internal revenue agent (i.e. tax collector) from Her Majesty's Government will be with you shortly to ensure the acquisition of all monies due (backdated to 1776).

    ---------------
    15. Daily Tea Time begins promptly at 4 p.m. with proper cups, with saucers, and never mugs, with high quality biscuits (cookies) and cakes; plus strawberries (with cream) when in season.

    God Save the Queen!
    ---------------------------------------

    Namaste,

I havent taken to much notice, or paid attention but it seems Trump maybe the right choice. Aside from all the Character assignation that the common public feed on to choose a leader via personality Trump is not as bad or ignorant as he made out to be. He won under extreme conditions, did he stop world war 3? is building and strengthening the infrastructure from the inside and having healthier trade relations such a bad thing.

In England there is a saying, if the BBC backs its then something is wrong, and most the comments coming trough is that this is the time when the power of the Elites has been broken, it could make for better times, I am just living in some hope.

I think this video is useful to show that Trump didnt just arrive on the scene, he has very good and strong contacts built over many years, some people always wanted him to be the president a long time ago, he is well informed and knows his stuff. I am not backing anyone, only a change for better where by trade and strengthening countries from the inside, this is how people and the world actually benefit from each other.

If anything Putin won this election, or a long term plan to rid the planet of the Elite Aristocrats, that have caused nothing but havoc.

    Re: The Donald

    Namaste...

I'm not usually one to weigh in on political matters; this is more of a social commentary.

I'm very dismayed at the growing violence occurring, all based on misinformation and misinterpretations. The very basis of the US is personal freedoms, including the freedom to vote for whom you wish, and the smooth transition of administrations. It seems that's going down the drain.

Something that I've observed, as have others in my circle of family, coworkers and friends, is that most of this is coming from "millennials". I maintain that they are knee-jerk reacting, swallowing social media memes hook, line and sinker, taking things out of context, and working from pure raw emotion, not reason. I still shake my head at the comments that Obama was going to take our guns away. He can't do that, in any way shape or form. He cannot override the Constitution or set aside Supreme Court decisions. It dismays me how little people know of how their country works.

What they seem to not be understanding is that for all of Trump's bloviating and grandstanding, even with a Republican Congress, we have checks and balances. That's why we don't have an absolute monarchy or totalitarian state. There is only so much a president can do without being stopped at every turn. I do believe it is the news media and social media that are contributing to and exacerbating the problem.

We have a constitutional right to protest, publicly assemble, and speak our minds (within the test that it doesn't create a clear and present danger: e.g. yelling "fire!" in a crowded theater). We don't have a right to riot, destroy property or give anyone who doesn't agree with us a beat-down. Truly sad what some Americans are capable of. I'm hoping and praying that we come to our senses lest get really ugly.
