Why am I saying, "be Indian but do not criticize others"?
1. To me, as an Indian, there are role-models who acted in a specific way, for example, Sita, Ahalya, and so on... I am exposed to them right from childhood, and given to admiring their moral values. So to me, it feels appropriate to follow them.
(But I understand perhaps others of different culture, have their own role models, who show them a different path... but still are good people for them to follow?)
2. My religion, being Hinduism, shows me the importance of brahmacharya, chastity, purity, etc. to ascend spiritually.
(Perhaps in other religions, they might have other standards, such as charity, stressed more.... or maybe they have different spiritual goals altogether? What to understand here is that, what is stressed to me, in my religion, may not be what is stressed to others, of other religion and culture).
3. My society, Hindu society in India, does not accept me to culturally be different from them.
(Perhaps other societies and cultures are different, so people act differently?)
And many more such factors....
JUST FOR YOUR THOUGHTS.
Thank you,
Viraja
