    Broken

    Hari Om

Since my attempts at poetry may not be considered poetry and due to nature in ways, thought this best place to post. Regardless, it is wished this gives someone some hope!

    Broken
September 1994, beautiful, glorious, intense, so green!
She walked outside, beautiful, glorious, intense, so young!

May 1996, beautiful, glorious, intense so, green!
Marriage to the one who was so beautiful, glorious, intense, and so young!

    July 1997, it’s a boy!!!
Dropped Theravada Buddhist lifestyle: to eccentric said mother in law

2002, son in church and out
    “What horrible stories” said wife

    2011, back to present path
To eccentric said the one who was so beautiful, glorious, intense and still so young

August 2016, windy, dark and gloomy
    “We need to talk”
said the one who all these years thought so beautiful, glorious, intense and so young

Sick, so sick, like a single lonely dirty old sock
O’ the glorious life of a western sadhak
    Separated from the flock
Can still hear the neighbor’s dog, bark

The tired chipped glass pushed to the edge
Only to fall broken off the ledge
All the King’s horses and all the King’s men could not put ol FFTW back together again
Because he was not really broken

The ego is never ever going to dance on the head of Lord Shiva
    The truths will stand
No matter what pain one causes themselves
    The truths will stand

Fetters will be removed and the universe will be scanned
And the seemingly shattered, and broken, will still be One
    Om Namah Shivaya

    Hari Om and namaste BelieverJi!

    Very kind and thank you.

No doubt, ouch does not cover it. Having said that, something like this and other things teaches so many lessons. The ship if you will, has been knocked about. But like YajvanJi shared in somewhat recent post, detachment is not end goal but something that occurs along the way. Just as Samadhi, not there yet on a full time basis, but getting stronger.

Hopefully, this message came across somewhat hopeful versus pathetic. Events, mind, emotions, are not subordinate to the truth, and in times of being cast about, our anchor is always there if we just take a breath, take in our Sadhana, during these times, to remember if you will. Meaning, this path, even in gut shot times, is precious. Think am responding to quickly BeliverJi. Just meant to be message of hope, our path, our lifestyle, even when things are maybe not so well, provides help in such unique times.

Thanks so much for sentiments expressed!

    Namaste FFTW,

Hope all is well with you. I read mostly positives from your poem rather than negatives, but my prayers to you for your well-being all the same. There are little and big hiccups in life that can send one reeling. Having good sadhana is often times a good buffer for these situations. I feel the last part of your poem sums it up the best: to look upon life's ups and downs as the movements in the dance of Lord Shiva, seemingly chaotic and yet perfect in His hands. Best wishes to you, dear friend.

    Om namah Shivaya

Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny."

    ॐ गं गणपतये नमः
