Love between man & woman-Yesterday (50~100 years ago) & Today. Your take?

    Namaste HDF

Although the spark to raise this question is came from the ongoing tussle between GOI and few outfits, wonder why the relationship between a man and woman has reduced to falsehood, lust, greed and exploitation. Panning across different communities and also the gender it almost impossible to find the thing called Love if we compare the situation with good old days.

We can not brush it off by reasoning it as the effects of deterioration of righteousness because even today the bonding between parents and children hasn't deteriorated like bonding between man and woman.

What do you guys think as the reason behind this state of affairs. I believe objectification is the main reason. Both men and women are partners in crime making equal contribution .

    Namaste,

In many, many relationships, the marriage is merely a social contract between two people without much love/respect involved. Economic independence through education has in some ways contributed to the deterioration of already bad 'togetherness through a social contract' (marriage). As an old joke goes, a young man is about to go off to college when the father has this conversation with him,

Father: Son, you can talk to girls at college and be friends with them but never even think about love marriage.
Son: Why dad, what is so great about arranged marriages?
F: Love marriages always end up in divorce. Arranged marriages are forever. Look at us; your mother and I have been married for 30 years and we still don't love each other.

"Love" or "Arranged" marriage, any relationship is going to suffer if greed takes over sacrifice and social norms are driven by low intellect.

Look at us; your mother and I have been married for 30 years and we still don't love each other.
Sadly in modern times the term "Love" is either incorrectly or conveniently defined, so one can easily miss the underlying truth.

It is very surprising to me why the forum is silent in this topic because the world we live in today is its resultant product

The reason I think given that the various cultures have survived so long in India is because of the arranged marriage concept. Society however has vastly changed today and generations over the years are choosing to make their own choices rather than giving in to culture.

Both arranged and love marriage requires adjustability of both parties concerned but is even scarier in arranged marriages because those come with a preset of notions and expectations and you really don't know the person who you might be marrying.
