Is this true in a literal physical sense, or is there more esoteric reasoning behind the statement? Traditionally, there are four cardinal stars ruling the quarters of the night sky:
Ursa major rules in the north,
Sirius rules in the east,
alpha Scorpii rules in the south, and
alpha Lyrae (Vega) rules in the west.
Following the Sun’s course, all Adityas rise in the east and move westwards through the sky, finally setting in the west. And so, it could be said that all true souls are heading for Vega, the western star. Indeed, all things “go west” in the end!
Namaste sarabhanga,
A good question. This is a discussion of nabhi ( navels or centers).... let me answer your question and we can expand as needed.
Our solar system is tilted at ~ 62° to the galatic plane. We reside in the 3rd arm of our most wonderful galaxy, the Milky Way , which is about 100,000 light years (+/-) across it's diameter and is home to 200 to 400 billion other suns.
We are on a ride to that nabhi, physically located in the Sagittarius/Capricorn address as the galaxy rotates. This information is from both Jyotish and from astrophysics.
Now I think the next logical question is one of relationship and perspective to that location in the sky. All things are in motion, all moving, so it will prove interesting as astrophysicists get better data... are we still on course? As of about 1 year ago , this was the best information they had for current course and speed. This is of key import, as the astrophysicsts believe the center of the galaxy is also in the direction of Sagittarius - their guess its 28,000 light years from here. So its a conversation of relative perspective and what we 'see' out our viewing window as to our relative motion in the sky.
From a spiritual perspective, your observation is spot on, as that is our unfoldment , from the indiviual to the universal, as represented by Abhijit.
