Americans will always deride and make fun of what they don't understand.

I'm not sure if we should be concerned about something like this. I doubt people's opinions about Hinduism will be swayed by this and if they are, you would have to question the value of those people's opinions.

Many think that we are idolatrous followers of the Kama Sutra, mixing magic potions with spices whilst chanting Hare Krishna. So, what can we do about it? Perhaps Bollywood could make some more serious movies like Lagaan and export them to the general american market, instead of films like
what was it "Queen of Spices"? with Aishwarya Roy.

Bachchans and Khans of Bollywood should perhaps be a little more responsible in what they churn out.

I would have to avoid judgment until I see the movie, which I probably won't. Sometimes the best comedies are parodies. Its been done against the evangelicals amongst others, not to mention the jokes around about rabbis, priests, nuns etc. Its the people with the least sense of humour who are most often offended the most. Here in Canada, (the takes on Catholic priests gone bad) and in Britain (The Black Adder) religious parody is almost at the core of some comedic groups (Kids in the Hall) where nothing is sacred. Personally, I usually find it very funny, and not offensive. Most wise people can see its just comedy. We sarcastically lampoon the poor politicians all the time. To laugh at oneself is a godsend, in my humble opinion. Aum Namasivaya

    Namaste EM,

I feel similarly. Possibly it is God alone who can have a full hearty laugh at Himself. We mostly are so inflated like air balloons that we are scared of being pricked. The whole exercise is to keep away the idea 'i am a balloon and not the air'.

As a corollary it could also be said that so-called insults and tribulations are also godsend, as these wean us away from the idea of being a balloon?
