    Namaste my HINDU Brothers

Im a Rom (Gypsy) from Europe/Serbia, we originated in india (northindia, greater punjab) and our religion was hinduism*. I discover my roots and call myself Indian and Hindu, but i worhsip Lord Christ (im baptized a orthodox christian) as my personal saviour and god... I respect all Hindu Gods and im proud of them as you can see that i call myself Indra. Worshipping Lord Christ is like worshipping a single hindu god, i respect all paths that may lead to god and the hindu way of thinking.... I guess a hindu can worship christ, christ is the one god that has many names and forms... christ is a reincarnation of "kris (t) shna" (krishna)....I guess my creation is a variation of hinduism....

Im here to learn about hinduism from you..... Im not a vegetarian, i eat beef and pork....

Can i be a Hindu? Would you embrace me as a Hindu?

    The Gypsies originated in India
The Gypsies as has been established today, migrated from India to the west many centuries ago. The Gypsies speak a language called Romany which has many common words with Indian languages. The religion of the Gypsies is a modified form of early Hinduism. The Gypsies seem to have been the Banjar nomads who are still found in India. Being a very carefree nomadic community the Gypsies earned their living by giving performance of folk dances, alongwith the persuing of other nomadic activities. Gypsy dance has influenced western dance styles like the Waltz and the foxtrot. Even the American Break dance and other dances associated with jazz music have borrowed elements from the gypsy folk dance. The Gypsy folk dance, is itself a free flowing and care free dance, a modified version of which is found in the folk dances of many Adivasi and nomadic tribal communities in India.

    Namaste Indra,

    Welcome to the forum !

Can i be a Hindu? Would you embrace me as a Hindu?
You accept the authority of Vedas & therefore, you are Hindu. Names & forms of God, as every Hindu knows, is for the sake of convenience of the devotees.
