    Post Hanumanji

Shiva’s ever-faithful ape-companion Hanumat had a strong influence throughout the forests of pre-Aryan Bharata. Arjuna had a monkey ensign, and Rama won victory with the aid of monkeys.

The father of Rudra is said to have been Vayu (Wind), and so too that of Bhima; and the Ramayana declares that Hanumat was also born of Vayu and Anjana (Attribute). Hanumat is thus recognized as the fleet-footed manifestation of wind, drawn by clouds, and the leader of Ganas (in this case, an army of monkeys).

Anjaneya Hanumat, like Kuvera or Vamana, is a little man invested with great magical power. He is an ape, both of man and of God; and he is an image of Rudra-Vishnu, equivalent with Narayana ~ the Guru Purusha.
