I hear these are mostly in Bramhi/Sanskrit.

Are there any in hindi?

Can anyone help me learn hindi? (books, websites, etc.)

I already know the devanagari alphabet, so...

I know that the Ramachitramanas is in Hindi.

I am not sure about the Vedas being in Hindi although there could be versions.

Anyway, why would you want to read the Scriptures in Hindi when you can read them in the original language; Sanskrit? of course, understanding what you read is a different story!

The problem with scriptures being translated in english is that, a lot of the meaning of words may be lost ; plus i'm sure there are several meanings per word.

I would LOVE to learn sanskrit, but i'm not quite sure where to do that either.

Sherab: You must be quite good at languages. If you had the money to go to India for 6 months, or more, you could become immersed in sanskrit somewhere, I suppose.

English translations that really convey the true meaning are very difficult to find for sure. Best to go on recommendations, but that includes a bias. many of the earlier translations were done by Christians (Alexander Pope comes to mind) and definitely have that slant to them.) The Gita probably has about 100 different translations, with each guy thinking he can do better than the last. But the real problem is that certain concepts literally have no translation because there is no equivalent concept in the new language. The words self-realisation comes to mind. In Innuit, there are like 20 words for 'snow' each with a different meaning.

Scriptural study is only one aspect of Hinduism, albeit somewhat important. But many of our greatest mystics and gurus didn't even read books. So all knowledge is inside you. I've heard the akashic library is 1000 times more vast than all libraries on earth.

I contemplated maybe trying to go out and learn to read sanskrit, but then I thought of my islamic days when I learned how to read and write arabic. I just turned everything to intellectual understanding with no firm practice. So this time I am going to take it slow and just do my mantra japa and yoga and yes occasionally hear a teacher explain some text, but other than that I dont think I am going to try to decypher everything. I will leave it to the Self to show me all the truths that are within the scriptures.
