    namaste Satay and all others.

Thanks to Satay for the book 'Vedic Culture'. I have uploaded a zip file containing an updated 0index.html file with a somewhat different folders structure under the parent folder. Those who are yet to set up a personal Hindu library might download the zip file from this link and proceed as in the message quoted below:

I have since uploaded the HinduTexts.rar file to esnips here:
    http://www.esnips.com/doc/6c3d3d9d-1...7ef/HinduTexts

All you need is to download the zip file, unzip it and set up the Library using the boldfaced guidelines given in my post no.41. Setting up is easy, and once this is done you may download using the 0index.html file only those books you need and then move them to their own folders.

Feedback from anyone regarding the setup is welcome.

    Thank you and Satay

I downloaded a WinRAR extractor and then downloaded your .RAR file and extracted it. When I open the extraction I see a "hindu-granthashAlA: Hindu Library: Sanskrit Originals, Translations and Related", but none of the links in the index open files or documents. I see two "Vedic Culture" links in the "Library", but when I click on the link, nothing opens.

    Am I doing something wrong?

    namaste Shivafan.

When you extract the 00HinduGranthashAlA.rar file, say at C:\ (the root folder of drive C), you should see the following subdirectory structure therein:

Note that all these folders are empty to start with and that when you download a file you should move it to the related folder, as shown in the browser status bar against a link.

Now if you open the 0index.html file in a browser, you will see a long HTML page, wherein the initial entries are links to the appropriate sections within the page. For example, the link Rg takes you to the section Rg veda, wherein the individual entries would be books. Note that the book links map to your local folder and the vertical bar link to the download link.

If you click a book entry now, say shAkalya shAkhA: maNDalam 1, nothing would open and you would get an error, because you are yet to download the book. And to download the book you should click or right-click-save on the vertical bar | next to the book link, and then move the downloaded book to its related folder, 00HinduGranthashAlA/hsk01/Rgveda/ folder in this case, where the book-file name is rk_ved_m1.pdf.

You should set up each and every document in this way. I suggest that you go through the book entries, download what you want to a common folder, say the parent folder, and then move the books to their related folders. Once the books are in place in their folders, the book links that map to them will open. Most of the books are in pdf format, so you would need a pdf reader to read the file or an appropriate browser plug-in to open it inside the browser.

All this might appear daunting at first, but once you try, it is easy. Open the HTML file, download a book and then move it to its folder--that's all. Please try with these guidelines and give your feedback here so I can help you further with any problems that might arise.

Yes, now I have the library fully functional! Thanks for the detailed instructions on how to populate the library with the downloads. This is a great tool you developed, and a great collection.

    All the best!

A great library of links! I need it. I will try to d/l from most the links. I too had a big collection, but alas, my HDD was electrically zapped after a thunder strike. Many thanks.
