    Question Meanings of Navagraha-Mantra ?

    There are some "Navagraha-Mantra" at the site of hubpages (to find them just type with quotations at google "Navagraha Mantra for removing Obstacles in Life"), but where can I get ther meanings ?

    Namaste sarjil,

    Navgraha mantra are mantra to remove obstacles and find peace in life. There are 9 stanzas dedicated to 9 entities. Following is the translation.

    जपाकुसुम संकाशं काश्यपेयं महत द्युतिम।
    तमोअरि सर्व पापघ्नं प्रणतोस्मि दिवाकरम॥ (1) For lord surya


    I pray to the Sun, the day-maker, destroyer of
    all sins, the enemy of darkness, of great
    brilliance, the descendent of Kaashyapa, the
    one who shines like the japaa flower.

    दधि शंखं तुषाराभं क्षीरोदार्णव संभवम।
    नमामि शशिनं सोमं शंभोर्मुकुट भूषणम॥ (2) For moon

    I pray to the Moon who shines coolly like curds
    or a white shell, who arose from the ocean
    of milk, who has a hare on him, Soma, who
    is the ornament of Shiva's hair.


    धरणीगर्भ संभूतं विद्युतिकांति समप्रभम।
    कुमारं शक्ति हस्तं च मंगलं प्रणमाभ्यम॥ (3) for Mars

    I pray to Mars, born of Earth, who shines
    with the same brilliance as lightning, the
    young man who carries a spear.


    प्रियगं कलिका श्यामं रूपेणापतम बुधम।
    सौम्यं सौम्यं गुणं पेतं तं बुधं प्रणमाभ्यम॥ (4) For mercury


    I pray to Mercury, dark like the bud of millet,
    of unequalled beauty, gentle and agreeable.


    देवानाम च ऋषीणां च गुरुं कांचन सन्निभम।
    बुद्धिभूतं त्रिलोकेशं तं नमामि बृहस्पतिम॥ (5) for brihaspati ji - Jutpiter

    I pray to Jupiter, the teacher of gods and
    rishis, intellect incarnate, lord of the
    three worlds.


    हिमकुन्द मृणालाभं दैत्यानां परम गुरुम।
    सर्वशास्त्र प्रवक्तारं भार्गवं प्रणमाभ्यम॥ (6) for venus


    I pray to Venus, the utimate preceptor of
    demons, promulgator of all learning, he who
    shines like the fiber of snow-white jasmine.




    नीलांजन समाभासं रविपुत्रं यमाग्रजम।
    छायामार्तण्ड संभूतं तं नमामि शनैश्चरम॥ (7) for shani dev -saturn




    I pray to Saturn, the slow moving, born of
    Shade and Sun, the elder brother of Yama,
    the offspring of Sun, he who has the
    appearance of black collyrium.

    अर्धकाय महावीर्यं चन्द्रादित्य विमर्दनम।
    सिंहिका गर्भ सम्भूतं तं राहुं प्रणमाभ्यम॥ (8) for rahu

    I pray to Rahu, having half a body, of great
    bravery, the eclipser of the Moon and the Sun,
    born of Simhikaa.

    पलांश पुष्प संकाशं तारका ग्रह मस्तकम।
    रौद्रं रौद्रात्मकं घोरं तं केतुं प्रणमाम्यहम॥ (9) for ketu

    I pray to Ketu, who has the appearance of
    Palaasha flower, the head of stars and planets,
    fierce and terrifying.




    नानारीनृपाणां च भवेद्दु:स्वप्ननाशनम् ।
    ऐश्वर्यमतुलं तेषामारोग्यं पुष्टिवर्धनम् ॥
    Whether for men, women, or kings, it brings them destruction of evil, unrivaled sovereignty, freedom from disease, and growth of strength.

    ग्रहनक्षत्रजा: पीडास्तस्कराग्नसमुद्भवा: ।
    ता: सर्वा: प्रशमं यान्ति व्यासो ब्रूते न संशय: ॥
    All afflictions born of the planets, stars, thieves, or fire will be removed. Vyasa tells us that there is no doubt about this.


    इति व्यासमुखोद् गीतं य: पठेत् सुसमाहित: ।
    दिवा वा यदि वा रात्रौ विघ्नशान्तिर्भविष्यति




    Those who read the song sung by VyAsa deva,
    will be joyous, sovereign and powerful,
    and will succeed in appeasing obstacles,
    occurring by day or by night.




    This very beautiful prayer, if you cannot read, listen it everyday in morning. i like this stotram so much.
