Bangladesh was formerly East Pakistan right after partition. Then it separated from Pakistan as well. So there is long standing problems.

I have a few friends from Bangladesh. Apparently when there was a conflict with Pakistan, Hindus were severely persecuted and had to flee to India. In fact my friend's father even had to get his family false identification papers and impersonate Muslims in order to get out.

I wonder why we don't ask India to do something about this rather than America. Not to sound overly critical, but I don't feel like America cares much about persecuted religious minorities unless those minorities are Christians. When was the last time America helped another religious group? Usually that doesn't happen unless oil is involved. I feel that Hindus in India need to take a more active role in helping their own.
