There's a serious lack of Murugan bhajans on youtube. Such a pity!

Re: Bhakti Sagara - Collection of Bhajans

    namaste.

One thing that baffles me is that Westerners never get to learn the Sanskrit pronunciation the right way. Don't get me wrong: I appreciate the interest, sincerity, expressions, scholarship and the efforts of their chanting our Sanskrit hymns, but I don't understand why even the people who are popular do not pay much attention to this aspect of correctly speaking the divine language, and speak it like English.

Here is a popular western Hindu spiritual person singing and explaining the bhaja govindam. Everything is perfect, but the mispronunciation jars the performance, IMHO:

Since the traditional mridangam instrument involves cow hides, the ISKCON people have developed a fibre-glass mridangam called 'tilak mridanga':

    http://krishnastore.com/mridanga-dru...shna-1464.html
    रत्नाकरधौतपदां हिमालयकिरीटिनीम् ।
    ब्रह्मराजर्षिररत्नाढ्यां वन्दे भारतमातरम् ॥

To her whose feet are washed by the ocean, who wears the Himalayas as her crown, and is adorned with the gems of rishis and kings, to Mother India, do I bow down in respect.

    Namasté All

To my ears, this is intensely beautiful.

I should love to know if the pronunciation and meter is respected.

    Thank you kindly.
