Question Where do the bad things in this universe come from?

If we get to know that everything manifested is of spiritual origin, all is brahman, how do we deal with all the bad things in this universe?

All the miseries, sadness, perversions created by the mind, evilness, etc, etc.

Or are the bad things a mere relative point of view? Just the way our state of consciousness see the energy which manifests things around us?

Are all asura qualities just as spiritual as the deva qualities?

If god is all-pervading, where is God in these things?

    I ask this sincerely.

    Om Tat Sat

    Dear PI,

The lack of clarity of the understanding of what is God and how it functions lead to these kind of confusions.

The goodness and badness part of the experience are all limited to the prakriti. The nature of the prakriti is such. It is ever changing and temporary. Just like fire's nature is hot and ice's nature is cold.

Expecting different things out of them will cause misery and sorrow.

Getting attached to that will cause upheals in the mind also as mind is always in search of permanency. Identifying oneself with the temporary state or matter will lead to misery and sorrow.

That does not mean we should not carry out our interactions with ever changing prakriti. We should but we need to keep in mind the nature and carry out the tasks as dilligently as possible but as duty. The moha i.e. the delusion of permanence, the ego and the desire keep the mind attached to the everchanging prakriti. The only way out is to gain more RIGHT knowledge to earse these.

Once we take the mind out of the changing prakriti, we can appreciate the dance of prakriti and remain in permanent state of ananda.

Even the avatara's life have indicated that they also had to go through these upheals of life. But how they treat those situations, is the lessons to learn.

    Love and best wishes

    namaste PI.

    You said in your OP:

The question of spiritual origins apart, we can ask a similar question about the state of affairs in this world:
If justice is equitable, where do we find it in the affairs of the world?

Why do the unscrupulous elite always escape the equitable application of justice, while only the unscrupulous common face it? One answer could be that this is so because it is only the unscrupulous elite who make the Laws of Justice.

In God's Law of Creation, there is nothing unscrupulous per se. When Brhaman emanated prakRti out of itself, it was originally balanced in the three guNas of sattvic, rajas and tamas, but will never be so, which is why Creation is described as eternal. However, PuruSha as the Self is immanent as consciousness and manifests as the voice of conscience in all jIvas--individual selves, although their guNa-karma are in extremely widely differing proportions.

But PuruSha, unlike the peers of our worldly life, has established Self-Justice, which desides the destiny and destination of each individual self. And in PuruSha's universal turIyac view, there is nothing unscrupulous because each individual incurs his/her own destiny. This is the reason for the UpaniShad declaration 'satyameva jayate'--Truth always triumps. When adharma becomes extreme, Brahman manifests AvatAras to reestablish dharma; and he always ensures presence of the wise to stem the rot.

When something is deemed 'inhuman', let us note that the term includes a 'human' and in most cases, its a 'man'.
    रत्नाकरधौतपदां हिमालयकिरीटिनीम् ।
    ब्रह्मराजर्षिररत्नाढ्यां वन्दे भारतमातरम् ॥

To her whose feet are washed by the ocean, who wears the Himalayas as her crown, and is adorned with the gems of rishis and kings, to Mother India, do I bow down in respect.

    Namaste Saidevo,

    A truly excellent exposition!

A lot of truth contained there!

    Namaskar.

Each person projects her own maya onto the world. But as most people do not have the power to create maya they will forever be enmeshed in other maya's and not create anything. And also it is possible to create bad as well as Good but you will become destroyed in the end.
