    Dashavatars of Vishnu

    Namaste.
I am new to this site and am very happy that this site is very informative regarding Hinduism and Spirituality.
Can anyone reply to my question: What are the 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Is Buddha incarnation of Lord Vishnu? If yes, is it Gautham Buddha?

    Re: Dashavatars of Vishnu

the ten incarnations are in general:
    sri matsyadeva
    sri kurmadeva
    sri varahadeva
    sri narasimhadeva
    sri vamanadeva
    sri parasurama
    sri rama
    sri krsna
    buddha
    sri kalkideva

but i also read that in this kali yuga buddha is not one of these dasavataras but a shaktyavesavatar and sri balarama takes his place in this list of avataras as the ninth avatar. in that case the answer would be
    yes. and no.

    +1

Some lists have Buddha as the ninth avatar, while some have Balarama, the elder brother of Lord Krishna as the ninth.
