Then they get bombed and play the victim card.

The Ignoratis award goes to a woman who shouts:

"One nation under god... Not Allah!"
The most scary of all is that white supremacism can emerge from this with little effort. The ultra-disciplined mass is already over seas fighting for oil without questioning anything. Sheep. -__-'

    Re: Christian Hate

Well to be fair (or rather to deflect potential criticism), in America this is about as bad as it gets. Whereas in India, there are instances of violence against Muslims. Then again, in India we also deal with more Islamic violence than what exists in America, so maybe the response/backlash is proportional to the level of Islamic terrorism. It's pretty safe to criticize Christian culture on a philosophical level, but we have to be careful when we criticize activities like this, since all human beings are guilty of hatred and intolerance on some level.

Having said all this, I think that Christianity is responsible for behaviors like this, and that the Tea Party's vitriolic hatred can find its origin in Christian "ethics" and theology. Christianity has historically been the basis of white supremacy, and I can easily see this religion leading to white supremacy once again.

Vannakkam: I personally believe America has gone too far with the free speech thing. Here in Canada it is easier to prosecute hate crimes. I often wonder what would happen if the KKK came back out in protest, and offered up their ideas based on 'free speech'. How would the public react, and better yet, if they did, would they be able to see the similarities to protests against Muslims, abortionists, and gays. Somehow I don't think they could.

In the very same TV news program you can see or hear the 'crimes against humanity' phrase used against a dictator somewhere, and then see 'we're having an investigation into the helicopter shooting of innocent civilians.' Somehow there is this established disconnect between what the good guys do and the bad guys do. Simple ideas for simple minds, I guess.

I see it as the dis-ease of ignorance. Doesn't matter what ~flavor~ the person is. If you have hate you hate... it is hateful people that happen to be Christian, that happen to be Muslim, or the like.

Hate arrives because there is the notion of 2.

A lot of people don't understand how intertwined Christianity and racism really are... Here's some text copied directly from the website of the Ku Klux Klan. (http://kkk.com/)

"There is a race war against whites. But our people - my white brothers and sisters - will stay committed to a non-violent resolution. That resolution must consist of solidarity in white communities around the world. The hatred for our children and their future is growing and is being fueled every single day. Stay firm in your convictions. Keep loving your heritage and keep witnessing to others that there is a better way than a war torn, violent, wicked, socialist, new world order. That way is the Christian way - law and order - love of family - love of nation. These are the principles of western Christian civilization. There is a war to destroy these things. Pray that our people see the error of their ways and regain a sense of loyalty. Repent America! Be faithful my fellow believers."-- National Director of The Knights, Pastor Thomas Robb
And while I know that a lot of Hindus view Christianity and Islam as being equally "bad," keep in mind that these same Christian Supremacists who are now attacking all Muslims in America...are just as opposed to Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, and anyone else who isn't Christian. It's just that Muslims are an "easier" target right now.

As one of the last "good" Romans once said:
"They are irreverent to the gods and disobedient to our edicts, lenient as they are. For we allow none of them to be dragged to the altars unwillingly... It is therefore my pleasure to announce and publish to all the people by this edict, that they must not abet the seditions of the clergy ... They may hold their meetings, if they wish, and offer prayers according to their established use ... and for the future, let all people live in harmony ... Men should be taught and won over by reason, not by blows, insults, and corporal punishments. I therefore most earnestly admonish the adherents of the true religion not to injure or insult the Galilaeans(*) in any way ... Those who are in the wrong in matters of supreme importance are objects of pity rather than of hate..." -- Julian II, the last Non-Christian Emperor of Rome, who attempted to re-instate Roman "Paganism" and bring back the concept of religious tolerance...
    * NOTE: By "Galilaeans," he means "Christians." Julian rarely ever referred to them as "Christians," and instead usually called them something else...my favorite one being, "Corpse-Worshippers." LOL.

a miniscule number of americans are at least calling a spade a spade, nothing wrong with that...

I hope Europe and America wont degenerate to the scary Indian situation ever. The political correctness of hindu politicians has summarily ignored hindu apprehensions for decades thus emboldening muslim radicalism. Indian govt disburses precious tax payers money to fund muslim pilgrims for their travel to Mecca, can you believe it. The same courtesy is not extended to hindus. Again the hindu endowments have been nationalized, which means the temple collections, say the likes of Tirupati for example, are made part of state treasury and the moneys are spent on secular welfare programs. But name of Tirupati does not figure whilst carrying out those welfare schemes, at that point it all gets blurred under secular govt schemes. None of Musllim and Christian places of worship are ever interfered with by the govt., all the collections are left to their own religious bodies to propagate their faith which also means converting the gullible and poor hindus in large numbers.. No moderate muslim speaks up to rectify the crippling militancy that took over his faith..(Similar tactics are adopted by Indian Christians to snub hindus there all with the blessings of foreign evangelists)..sad.

I am a very firm supporter of free speech, but it is things like this that make me rethink that. But I do greatly admire those Muslims for not yelling anything back at them or provoking them in anyway. That takes a lot of courage.

The biggest anti-islam party in the Netherlands, the PVV of Geert Wilders (producer of "fitna the movie") constantly talks about preserving Judeo-Christian culture when talking about imigration policies.

Not to forget that the entire second world war was inspired by Christian racism, this is also admitted by religion scholar Stephen Prothero who is very pro-Christian, he wants American schools to teach the Bible.

A lot of Hindus have voted for Geert Wilders in the Netherlands, but they forget that he probably can't tell the difference between a Muslim, Sikh or a Hindu when they are standing at the border.

Vannakkam all: Scary thing is half the time they don't even know the difference. There is just 'us' and 'them'. There were Hindu temples vandalised after 9-11.
