Thread: Link for the Scriptures

  1. Link for the Scriptures

http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/ I wanted to share this site with everyone, it has most, if not all of the texts, in English and Sanskrit, figured it would be useful, from the four Vedas down to some modern books that could be helpful. I hope you all enjoy.

    ब्रह्मराजर्षिररत्नाढ्यां वन्दे भारतमातरम् ॥

To her whose feet are washed by the ocean, who wears the Himalayas as her crown, and is adorned with the gems of rishis and kings, to Mother India, do I bow down in respect.

thanks for the links, Scarlet .....

according to opinions of many, the translations by Ralph Griffith is so stupid.
His intention behind the translation was to make it feel vedas are inferior to other religious texts.

I see this slightly differently. I have read many of his works. There is no doubt they are somewhat lacking. Why so?

Scriptures without a guide or without personally pursuing the Supreme makes the words of the śāstra-s as just ink on paper. What is missing? The insight, saketa, the symbols with their in-depth meanings.
Yet above all, it is the knowledge that the śāstra-s can be viewed on 3 levels:
    • ādhyatmika: The spiritual or psychological level
    • ādhiyajñika: The ritualistic level: pertains to the performance or works, particularly rituals we call yajña
    • ādhidaivika: The cosmological level: pertains to the laws of nature.
This IMHO is what Mr. Griffith missed or did not grasp. For this I hold back any judgement.
