    Ganesh milk miracle

Was anyone there to see it (on this forum)? In videos I saw milk dribbling down the murtis front. What did you see, do you believe it?

Saying that my faith does not depend on the answer just curiosity

Vannakkam Rudy: It happened here but I didn't go. I'd say 90% or more of the Hindus here in my city went. There was a huge lineup and ado, which is more or less why I didn't go. That kind of buzz about something normal (to me) just isn't my cup of tea. I saw it as no big deal, but then I had previous 'experience' with the murthy here that I won't go into.

I took it as Ganesha proving to some doubters that he existed as a real Being, but since I didn't need proof, it wasn't necessary I go.

It happened. Over four gallons of milk disappeared here. Then, just as suddenly as it started, it stopped. I think there are a few more stories on line if you google it.

    Namaste,

I can see why some long-time Ganesha devotees like EM would see the milk miracle as being a big hullabaloo, but seeing as all this happened before I myself began to pray to and worship Ganesha I would be lying if I didn't say I felt even just a little bit curious about the whole thing. Prior to my reading of the milk miracle, I had no idea Ganesha loved drinking milk so much! Now I always offer it to Him every time I perform puja.

    Om namah Shivaya

Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny."

    Hari Om!

Didn't see it myself - live that is. I do believe however. Ganesha performs miracles for many in many different forms, but some need proof, or in this case to see to believe.

The dribbling of milk can be explained if need be as such. Have you ever fed a baby? Try getting it to eat the entire spoonful and you end up with much of it dribbling down the front of the babies mouth. Did he not eat the food? Yes, some, just not the entire portion. It was too much too fast. Even the biggest appetite has its limits.

    Jai Ganeshaya Namaha!

    Om Namah Sivaya!

    Re: Ganesh milk miracle

From what I've seen, it wasn't a miracle, more like the milk pouring down the statue when in contact and not spottable since the milk poured around a large area in a murti already covered in milk. I haven't tested yet to make sure, but I find these miracles a bit silly, sounds like those Christian miracles filled with wishful thinking.

The real miracle is why do I feel that much better when I chant Ganesha's name? Nothing will ever explain that scientifically, therefore, that's the living miracle right there.

This thread went up more than 48 hrs ago, i am amused to see not a single born hindu took any interest in the topic. Why?

No points for guess work. Pietro's last remark sums it up all very nicely.

    Re: Ganesh milk miracle

Vannakkam: Like I said before, I wasn't there. But about 30 friends and acquaintances gave me basically the following story:

The murthi (which weighs about 80 pounds only) was a set in a tray to catch the spillage. People would hold a level spoon full of milk to the murthi's mouth. The milk would just disappear, as if something was sucking it up. There were many doubters in the crowd. Of course there was some spillage, as some nervous people (the priest allowed devotees to queue up because our temple wasn't established by the mahakumbabhishekam at the time) teetered the spoon. After a few hours they would lift the murthi to empty the tray, and it never ever had nearly as much milk as had been held there.

I do know a very rationalist atheist who to this day, even though he witnessed it, says, "It just didn't happen." His mind is stuck in such rationality that he just can't handle it.

The other very rational people (includes doctors, lawyers, engineers, teachers, etc.) all accepted that it happened. The people I move with tend to be very professional and highly educated people.

The other thing is that it stopped: just as suddenly as it started. People would hold the spoon, and no milk at all would disappear.

But if you want to doubt it, that's fine by me. I agree the real miracles are how God can change your life. I have absolutely no doubts as to the realness of Ganesha and His ability to do change lives, and to drink milk.

    Re: Ganesh milk miracle

EM, my doubt is based on a video that documented a miracle like this. But as you said, this particular event may be different.

    Namaste

We do not look up to Lord GaNesh for miracles. He does perform many anyways - most of the times to prove a point to a devotee to increase their faith.

My uncle - an ardent GaNesh bhakt - once went to visit another Temple, not GaNesh, and the coconut he offered, when burst open, had the pulp - "comb" - in the shape of Lord GaNesh. So, it was Lord GaNesh's way of saying don't hesitate to visit the other temple, I am one in spirit with the Supreme.

Last year, Gajanan manifested His form on a tree in some town in India. All of a sudden. There are pictures of the tree trunk.

Recently in a bunch of carrots i found one that was the shape of GaNesh face, tilt it the other way - it looked like KrushNa's Vrundavan parrot from the other side. I have kept that carrot.

It was Gajanan Ganesh who, from the cover of His stotra booklet, pointed a finger towards a scripture (Other than Bhagvad Gita, there was no other scripture i looked into then - many yrs ago, and only knew a few stotras of Ganesh.) I have seen dancing Ganeshes but none like the one on the booklet - pointing a finger. And to think i noticed Him say this after several years of having the booklet.

I said, "but GaneshA, how can i read that and abandon You ? "
Just do it, was His message. Like many here have experienced, He does show us the way OUT OF ordinary material life.

    Jai Jai Jai Shri Ganesh
    Jai Shri KrushNa
