Just curious, can anyone explain the actions in this devotional video?

Perhaps someone can help a couple of things I don't understand and remove a bit more ignorance

In this video there are three actions I would like to understand their meaning and origin, I can take a guess, but perhaps someone can speak with confidence on their purpose:

Time 4.16 - (1)The man touches his chest twice in two places

Time 4.24 - (2)The girl winds an object on cord, (3) then she touches her chin 2 or three times.

    Video on YouTube:

Forgive me for not having those answers but I just had to comment on how beautiful that video is. Humble people in every duty, every activity...every location with some fancy shrine and also the simple incense and murti...all loving Beloved Shiva so fully and wonderfully.

So different am I...I think, not as good...half the image, a pure shadow of that Love. Only to see it is not my location or even this faulty skin color and my ignorance, but those humble actions which mirror my own.

To live in such a place where a man could sit at his car in full open view showing such Love to Shiva and not have the neighbors speak of his insanity...such a place is beyond sublime.

Thank you so much for posting this.<3

I completely agree, you capture that beauty in your own words, NayaSurya Thank you.

I am touched by the inclusion of the Sikh gentleman at his desk, a glimpse showing that devotion to the Lord is beyond barriers and beyond names.

    Vannakkam Onkara:

This is just what my understanding is. Other interpretations may vary.

The touching to one's body is transferring mystical energy to oneself, especially to the heart chakra. The woman is retying her thali, or necklace with a chunk of gold that is the equivalent of a wedding ring.

What makes you think the man is a Sikh. He could be, but Hindus in the North, especially Punjab also wear turbans. Some Sikhs do also worship at Hindu temples. In fact, we have a chap here who comes to out temple, a South Indian one.

There may be other more regional interpretations as well.

    Namaste,

I have to echo Nayasurya on how wonderful that devotional video was. Young and old remembering Shiva as they go about their day, even in the middle of work. (On a slightly unrelated topic, I love Jagjit Singh's voice! To hear him singing Lord Shiva's mantra is pure bliss indeed.)

    Om namah Shivaya
"Watch your thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny."

    ॐ गं गणपतये नमः
    Om Gam Ganapataye namah

    लोकाः समस्ताः सुखिनो भवन्तु ।
    Lokaah SamastaaH Sukhino Bhavantu
