    Meaning of kurtas

    Hari Om!

Was wondering what the different colors mean in relation to wearing solid color kurtas, especially in a formal temple setting. White is my primary concern. Who can wear it and what does it signify? I've been told nothing more than it is auspicious with no further explanation. Any colors aside from black that one should not wear? What do some of the other colors mean, if anything?

    Namaste,

I would imagine it may depend on the temple but all of the men I know tend to wear white kurtas. I have seen patterned ones as well. I don't think there is any real rule about kurta color although maybe avoid saffron since it's the color of sadhus? (That's a speculation, I don't know for sure)

    Aum Hari Aum!
