I found this prayer while reading the story of Gajendra the elephant king, and Lord Vishnu's rescuing of him from the crocodile.शुक्लांबरधरं विष्णुं शशि वर्णं चतुर्भुजं ।
प्रसन्न वदनं ध्यायेत सर्व विघ्नोपशान्तये ॥One should meditate upon Lord Vishnu, who wears white garment, who is all pervading, who has a bright complexion, who has four arms, who has poised, pleasant face for removal of all obstacles.
It is about half way down this page http://www.riiti.com/587/gajendra_mo...elephants_king
It sounds very much like a prayer to Lord Ganesha:
Lord Ganesha who is garbed in white and is all pervading, with a moon-like complexion and four arms. Upon that ever smiling and pleasing face do we meditate and ask that He remove all obstacles.
Is this a common occurrence? I cannot read Sanskrit, so I don't know what the exact translation would be. They are both nice little prayers. I use the one to Lord Ganesha at the beginning of my puja, and when I go out.
